Darkseid of the Moon

Remember how much I disliked Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's Justice League? No, well scroll down a little bit and you'll see but enough of that. In it I wondered if the editor was allowing hideous art because Lee is his boss, and in the comics industry jobs are wafting out the window in New York. Well, after seeing this I am possitive that that statement is correct. Introduced into the JL fairly soon is Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips and neo deity of evil. He was a hulking brute, think brick out house created by Kirby, who didn't really do sleek and slender at the best of times. This is what Darkseid looked like in the old DC

He is a scary beast, and quite right too as he wants to erase free will and make the Universe in his shape via the Anti Life Equation. He may wear a little skirt but then so did the Cekts and the Romans and they shoved swords and spears where swords and spears don't belong.

So how does this fear laden monster look in the eyes of Jim Lee? The most feared man in the universe has to look scary enough to wet several layers of foundation garment in a single stare. Surely Jim's cracked it, with Kirby creating such a great start, and this from a Kirby hater. Come on Jim, let's see it
Ladies and Gentlement I give you Darkseid, the Duncan Norvelle of New Genesis.

And with that any credibility in the leadership of Johns, Lee and DiDio flew out the door, never to return
